You fear that you can’t do it all and you’re right

Do you guys know that I’m on Vine?  I’ve really been enjoying that app and the 6-second-film form.  James Urbaniak’s are some of the best things the internet has to offer right now.

I have been working really hard the past several weeks, and I’ve gotten big into The Blow. (Should I rephrase that?  Oh well.) It’s great finding music that keeps me pinned to my desk when I need to be.  Just a couple more days and I should be able to take it a little easier…! @_@

I’m moving past the feeling

Between Gears came out last week!! Release week was tons of fun. Read Christian Lipski’s article on the release party here.

With my Oni and Lerner books done and Between Gears released, it’s time to focus on Over the Surface! I updated that project’s blog yesterday.

Here is a preview of upcoming fan art for Arrietty:

I LOVED that movie. Do yourself a favor and go see it in theaters, then buy every song Cecile Corbel made for the movie. They are GORGEOUS. I have been listening to a mix of them all week as a writing soundtrack. My favorite right now is ‘My First Borrowing’ (Disney seems to be pretty on top of blocking uploads at the moment, or I would link it).

Sweet dreams are made of this

Allow me to share some lady-centric media I am excited about:

(NSFW:)

Garfunkel and Oats – a pair of hysterical, musical ladies. Flippant and vulgar in a similar vein to Sarah Silverman (but funnier IMHO). I guess they’ve been around for a while, but I just heard about them so I figure there’s a chance some of you haven’t yet.

I saw a commercial for this for the first time yesterday, and I want to know HOW and WHY I was not informed about this movie sooner. This looks so fuckin’ badass, I can’t explain how excited I am. Cate Blanchett ftw! Kickass girl assassin, eeee!!

Because ladies deserve dumb Judd Apatow movies, too. Judd’s hit and far-miss with me, but I’m excited for this. Check out the trailers on the movie’s site!

20% on Rotten Tomatoes, warnings from friends…the hate falls on deaf ears! I know what this movie is and I cannot wait to finally see it. My one quibble with the trailer is that even the darkest girl’s fantasy would involve at least one frickin’ pony.

I was made to believe there’s something wrong with me

My contribution to Periscope‘s sketch challenge for this week:

I think that Cold War is my favorite of her songs. So wonderful.

All you do is fill me up with doubt

I have easily listened to this song 100 times in the last 48 hours. Somehow, magically, it never gets old.

I’m still working on a Wonder Woman Day piece, character designs for several projects, and Between Gears. I started work at the zoo last week, and didn’t draw at all Monday through Friday, but I hope to force at least an hour each day after work this week. Things are adding up quickly and could get very tight next month. I also found a place to live and will move in September 4th, and I still need to find a day job. Busy, busy, busy!

Day and night

HAHAHAHA.

I am down with music video nudity when it’s this funny:

I don’t wanna bend like the bad girls bend

Here’s a final preview for the Monsters and Dames piece. I may tweak things later, but I need to call it done for now.

Also, Metric’s Gold Gun Girls is amaaaaaziiiing~

And these wars, they can never be won

Hey all! I’m back from Comic-Con, and there will be a series of posts all about that, but for now I have a music-related post:

I just heard ‘United States of Eurasia’ off of Muse’s upcoming album (‘The Resistance’), and it is fantastic. I love this band so much, it’s a thrill to hear some new music from them. They may go a little heavy on the Queen around 1:24, but I am excited for the promised new influences on this album, whatever they may be.
Have a taste (video is fan-made):

In other news, Portland’s own 94.7 fm has a program called Perfect Playlist every workday at 5pm, where a single listener gets to cue up their personal playlist of 5 songs, and has the option to come to the station and talk to the host, Gustav, between songs. I sent mine in last week, and got a reply saying that mine may go on the air sometime soon! I would be so excited. Anyway, if that happens I’ll definitely link you to their site, where you can stream the program. :)

You know the stripes on a tiger are hard to change

LOVE this song right now:

And I like the music video! The lead singer’s style, the silhouette dancing, and the part where he drives off the car are all cool elements.

Still inking (le sigh!). It’s been so long since I used nibs! April at least. Very strange, after inking with them for…oh wow, 6 years? I was worried I would lose that skill if I took a break and learned to brush ink, but it seems to have come right back. :)
